We recently designed a system for a client that had a need to replace handwritten sub assembly numbers. The process was prone to errors and tracing was unreliable setting the stage for potential lawsuits and recalls.

Our system involves six components:
1. Bluetooth Scanner

3. Barcode from Engineering drawing or Work Order
4. Thermal transfer labels
5. Thermal transfer ribbons

Our client was especially excited to not have to rely on a PC or mobile computer to replicate the sub assembly number from the engineering drawing or work order. Instead, when a sub assembly is ready to be marked with a barcode label, the client simply:
- Scans the barcoded part number on the engineering drawing or work order.
- And presto, a barcode label with a very readable barcode and human readable number is generated and presented from the printer with no PC or mobile computer.
- The employee removes the label from the printer and applies to the sub assembly.
